Influenced by the likes of Cluster, Henry Mancini, and Gavin Bryars, the Vancouver-based player uses samplers, synthesizers, reckoner computer programing, and other personal effects to create a highly original heavy. As compilations go, this album from the newish Uruguayan opera star seems almost arbitrary in its balance and, at times, in its quality. Half the platter is devoted to Mozart and the three Da Ponte roles that made Schrott's name: a mischievous Figaro, plucky Leporello and diabolical Don Giovanni. But he often fares better in the quieter, more beguiling moments than in full flow rate - not usually the case on stage. Schrott's Verdi is less distinctive, but trey arias from Berlioz, Gounod and Meyerbeer bring out the dynamical devil in him.

A perceived similarity between a theme in Bach's Art of Fugue and the opening of Brahm's low gear cello sonata led Sonia Wieder-Atherton and Imogen Cooper to experimentation with musical relationships, arranging movements from Bach cantatas as punctuation marks between three Brahms sonatas. This unconvincing contrivance fails on many levels. It leaves the attender wanting more Bach patch the Brahms sonatas - splendidly played, particularly in the roiling outer movements - seem almost an interruption sooner than an extension of a musical idea.

Tchaikovsky's mighty last work, forever associated with the mystery circumferent his end, is played with thrilling ferocity, grace and pathos in this live recording by the Philadelphia under Christoph Eschenbach. This moldiness be one of the finest performances on disc - and one of the well-nigh unusual - as Eschenbach has the nerve to follow its unfollowable finale (after a decent pause) with the 10-minute piano piece 'Dumka' (Scenes From a Russian Village). The effect is to prompt us yet further of this heart-on-sleeve composer's womb-to-tomb sense of isolation.

Pete Doherty - Doherty To Write Autobiography
British rocker PETE DOHERTY is reportedly set to lay bare the details of his stormy relationship with ex-girlfriend KATE MOSS in a new autobiography.
Babyshambles frontman Doherty has teamed up with author and ex-drug addict Sean Boru to write the "intensely personal biography" which will focus heavily on the 29-year-old's tumultuous relationship with the supermodel.
Boru says, "The whole premise of the book is Pete talking about Kate Moss and the sex and drugs and rock'n'roll lifestyle they shared.
"I wrote to Pete when he was in jail about my experiences when I was a drug addict and we built a relationship.
"He knows I understand where he is coming from and this is the first book that properly details his private life with Moss - which is what everyone wants to read about."

Mike Myers - Myers Dismisses Talk Of Waynes World 3
Comedian MIKE MYERS has shot down fans' hopes for a third WAYNE'S WORLD movie - just two weeks after reuniting with co-star DANA CARVEY for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards.
The funny duo teamed up once more as characters Wayne and Garth for a hilarious skit at the awards show earlier this month (01Jun08), but Myers insists the reunion was just for old time's sake.
He says, "It's a wonderful idea and I loved doing these characters, but no."
Myers insists the awards show skit just allowed fans to get "caught up" in the nostalgia of the two hit Wayne's World films and he has no plans to follow it up with a Waynes World 3.
The original Wayne's World was released in 1992, and the sequel - Wayne's World 2 - hit cinemas in 1993.

LUNIZ rapper NUMSKULL has been accused of assault and possession of a firearm.
The star - real name Garrick Demond Husbands - has been charged with 12 counts of felony, including sodomy, reports TMZ.com.
The charges relate to an alleged attack on a woman in April last year (07), according to papers filed at California's Alameda County Superior Court.

Usher - Usher Marriage Made Me A Great Man
R+B superstar USHER credits his wife TAMEKA FOSTER with changing his playboy ways - because he was never able to remain faithful to his partners before the pair met.
The Yeah! hitmaker married stylist Foster last September (07) and welcomed a son, Usher Raymond V, two months later (Nov07).
But the 29-year-old singer romanced a string of beauties before walking down the aisle - including TLC star Rozonda 'Chili' Thomas - and detailed his struggle with monogamy on 2004 hit Confessions.
However, he claims to have left his batchelor days well behind him since meeting Foster.
He says, "When I became a husband, I became a great man. Being a guy who's a hustler, a player - everybody knows who I used to be. But now (I'm) a man of integrity. The combination of father and individual.
"Being a young man who could have a bevy of women and do whatever, to become more conscious to accept a monogamous relationship - not just (to) be that guy who goes from woman to woman, but a guy of substance."
